Photo Coyote Yet another version of an ordinary reality.

Caucus 2008

This is an old-school, low-res, phone-cam version of some of the folks at our Democratic caucus yesterday afternoon. There were actually 4 times that many folks in the room. And the other rooms in the rest of the facility were full as well. It was very gratifying to see so many people turn out. I had to park 5 blocks away, and walk to and from my car in the rain, but I’m totally not complaining. It was exciting! The voting in my precinct was 3 to 1 for Obama, consistent with the entire state of Washington. Record turnouts everywhere for the Democrats. Not so much so for Republicans, I’ve heard.

The New York Times is sponsering the Polling Place Photo Project, which is such a great idea. Here’s a blurb from the home page:

The Polling Place Photo Project is a nationwide experiment in citizen journalism that encourages voters to capture, post and share photographs of this year’s primaries, caucuses and general election. By documenting local voting experiences, participants can contribute to an archive of photographs that captures the richness and complexity of voting in America.

Even though the above photo is crappy, I went ahead and submitted it anyway. I’m all about doing my civic duty. Heh.
