Still Learning After All These Years

I’m grateful for teachings that stretch both my mind and my character. I’m currently involved in a situation wherein, legally, I am right and They are wrong, and I’m trying to decide the right action to take to resolve the dispute. Ego is a powerful force. I would slam-dunk them in court if it came to that. But, in the long run, are the residual ill-feelings worth it?

Tao Te Ching

The last chapter in the Tao Te Ching offers wisdom for me to contemplate. “Wise men don’t need to prove their point; men who need to prove their point aren’t wise… By not dominating, the Master leads.”

I need to take heed of the Tao Te Ching. Its a short book but it is full of wisdom. Unfortunately it isn’t easy to follow the path. The trick is trying to return to the path when you stray.

It’s true! We’re taught that life is a plethora of challenges, and we must fight to win them. Sadly, it’s an ego-based philosophy that has ill effects on our mental, physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.

But, it can be unlearned. It just takes time. Lots of time.
